Scholarship Program

At STI Cares, we believe that an education is the surest way to change the world. Our scholarship program is focused on advancing the educational opportunities of students we transport. High school seniors attending schools serviced by STI or one of its locally operating companies are eligible to apply for a one-time scholarship to ease the financial impact of a college education.

As the world becomes more demanding, the hardships faced by many families become increasingly difficult to bear. The STI Cares Emergency Relief and Hardship Grants are available to assist employees with unpredictable life setbacks such as unplanned injury or mental/physical illness, bereavement, natural disaster, or economic financial hardship. Our intent is to care for our employees with the same level of care and concern they afford each other and the students we transport every day.

At STI Cares, we want to encourage and advance the generosity and community involvement of our employees. Under the Charitable Organization and Matching Gifts Grant Program, STI Cares will either match or make organic contributions to qualifying charitable organizations supported by our employees.

Direct Community Involvement

Beyond the grant programs providing financial assistance, the STI Cares Foundation works to support STI employees in donating their time, volunteering their efforts, and raising money throughout the year. STI’s employees create teams to participate in Relay for Life and the JDRF One Walk. They organize teams to donate blood to the Red Cross. They collect coats and mittens for underprivileged children in the winter and host events to gather school supplies throughout the year. Local terminals donate school buses and drivers volunteer their time to transport groups like local senior citizens, homeless veterans and teams for the Special Olympics. Our impact goes beyond the financial and includes smiles, hugs and high-fives.

  • “I wanted to thank you for my scholarship and your encouragement in my college education. This first semester has been fantastic and if this last final goes well, I will even end with a 4.0 GPA! Thank you for helping make my college experience here at the University of Akron so great for me!”

    Nina B., Student, Sharpsville, PA

  • “Thanks to you, last year more families in coastal South Carolina were able to sit down to a nutritious meal than ever before. Your recent food drive created 120 meals for our neighbors experiencing hunger. Your thoughtful support of the Lowcountry Food Bank is helping to make life brighter, happier and healthier for thousands of children, families and seniors in our community who experience hunger. Thank you!”

Margaret Grant, Director of Procurement with Lowcountry Food Bank, Charleston, SC

  • "The STI Cares hardship relief program has helped our employees cope with some incredibly tragic circumstances. Not only does the Foundation provide financial assistance to those dealing directly with a loss, but it also provides comfort and support to our entire team by reinforcing the core values of STI and really shining a light on the fact that we truly are a family here."
